As a non-profit, we rely on volunteers to help run our programs throughout the year. In addition to directly supporting your local community, research has shown that volunteering can also positively affect your mental health by reducing stress, increasing happiness, and finding purpose.

As a literacy coach, you’ll support up-and-coming community members with their reading and writing skills. You’ll serve as a literacy content expert and provide support on curriculum, high-quality interactions, and the science of teaching reading.
Requirements:
Knowledge and experience of teaching reading
Proven results when working with struggling readers
Strong knowledge of how children learn to read

Tutors help students understand their homework assignments, either individually or in small groups, by developing study strategies, explanations, and other forms of guidance. You may be required to help with mathematics, science, or history, just to name a few. The goal of this position is to support students’ academic performances beyond just helping them complete homework assignments.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Skilled at working with children and adolescents
Above-average knowledge in multiple academic fields

As a clerical assistant, you’ll perform a variety of administrative tasks in our office. Organizing documents, answering telephone calls, managing office mail, and recording data into our systems are common duties for this position. Because we, as a nonprofit organization, collaborate with a variety of other organizations, keeping track of it all is crucial to keeping us afloat.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Well-organized and willing to perform a variety of tasks
Moderate or better understanding of computers

Our driver will transport students and supplies to and from Agape Haven of Abundance’s headquarters. The trips you’ll have to make will vary in duration and distance, and must be done without risking anyone’s well-being. We operate throughout the Edgerton neighborhood, so if you know your way around, this position is perfect for you.
Requirements:
Valid driver’s license for the State of New York
Willing to drive for long distances and periods of time
Capable of safely transporting people and supplies

Pantry stockers provide assistance with keeping Agape’s pantry as full and organized as possible. You’ll have to stock, unload, pack, and organize our inventory so we can serve food to our community all year round. It’ll also be your responsibility to dispose of any expired items- the last thing we want to do is hurt a member of our community!
Requirements:
Ability to move items of 20+ pounds
Teamwork, communication, and other interpersonal skills
Able to read food labels and organize items

The groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining our property and ensuring a welcoming physical environment for all. Not only will you help keep our lawn and building clean and free of litter and snow, but you’ll also help us with our gardening endeavors.
Requirements:
Gardening skills
Adequate physical ability, not bothered by being outdoors
Willing to work in non-severe weather
